Miami will update Fidel Castro death response
The Associated Press
MIAMI -- Miami's mayor says the city will be updating its plans to
contain protestors and revelers who may take to the streets after Cuban
leader Fidel Castro dies.
When rumors spread recently that Castro might be dead, Mayor Tomas
Regalado said the city's plan was to shepherd people to the Orange Bowl.
However, that football stadium was demolished in 2008. The new Miami
Marlins ballpark was built in its place.
Regalado tells The Miami Herald ( http://hrld.us/XFTRac) that,
"Obviously, that plan was never updated."
Regalado says the city will be making new arrangements. Those plans
aren't likely to include the new ballpark.
The mayor says that he doesn't think the Marlins would want protestors
there. Or, he said, "Knowing them, they would charge to protest."
