Ladies in White backers 'deported'
AFP/Havana
Police sent dozens of Cuban women dissidents back to their home
provinces at the weekend even as a pro-government mob tried to corral
the group in a home so they could not attend a mass, a dissident alleged
on Monday.
Police "detained more than 60 women, deported them (to their home
provinces from Havana) and otherwise sent them home," Laura Labrada,
daughter of the late Ladies in White leader Laura Pollan, said.
The Ladies in White was founded in 2003 by wives and kin of political
prisoners seeking their release after a crackdown.
