About one thousand delegates and guests gathered here in the National
Small Farmers Association (ANAP) congress discuss production, marketing
and best economic practices to boost food crops.

The congress opened Friday at the Havana Convention Center with an
exchange of opinions and informative lectures on the situation of
national agriculture and livestock production, reported Granma daily.

Among the top issues on the agenda are to seek ways to guarantee a
stable supply of food products to the population, substitute imports,
guarantee supplies to the tourism sector and increase production for export.

Participants will learn about the best experiences registered among
cooperatives that produce 4,500 metric tons or more a year of grains,
fruits and vegetables.

At present, small farmers account for 70 percent of food production in Cuba.
