WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — Purdue's College of Agriculture has added
another destination to their study abroad program.
Cuba will be the new study abroad destination for the College of
Agriculture.
Professors have been granted the opportunity to travel to Cuba this week
to organize the program. This trip allows advisors to get comfortable
with the environment before they send students.
Professor Gerald Shively says "the trip to Cuba will begin to lay the
foundation for Purdue research."
The program will also allow students to gain unique exposure.
"Following the re-establishment of diplomatic relations between the
United States and Cuba within the college of agriculture we saw this as
a potentially important change with a lot of opportunity for all of the
missions of the college, really in the areas of research," said
Professor Shively.
Shively along with two other professors will spend a week in Cuba to
walk through the study abroad trip.
The program will start in March of 2016
