Heavy Rains in May Favor Cuban Dams

Cuban territories left a favorable situation in dams that accumulated
over 5,700 billion cubic meters of rain water by late May, Granma
newspaper reported on Friday.
The figure represents 62 percent of their filling capacity, 58.3 percent
of usable water, and surpasses usual average in 841 million cubic meters
up to date, sources from the National Institute of Hydraulic Resource
told the daily.
The biggest accumulates were registered in dams located in Pinar del
Rio, Artemisa, Mayabeque and the Isle of Youth (west), Cienfuegos, Villa
Clara, Sancti Spiritus and Ciego de Avila (central), and Camaguey and
Holguin (east).
