In an effort to stimulate construction and small business, the Basic
Industries Ministry will grant permits to individuals to mine
construction material such as sand, an official said during an earth
sciences conference in Havana.
The permits are limited to small amounts and for one year, Deputy Basic
Industries Minister Iván Martínez said during the opening of the
Geociencias 2011 conference.
The idea is to promote production of bricks, hewn stone, sand and other
arids.
