Church group back from Cuba

Church group back from Cuba

The 13 members of the Glenview Nazarene Church who had gone down to Cuba
at the beginning of March gathered Sunday with another church group who
had been to Trinidad to share their experiences.
The Glenview group had gone down to continue work on a house they had
helped purchase and were converting into a church for a local pastor
they had befriended.
Toting all kinds of donations, such as sporting equipment and
kitchenware, the group headed down to work on the church's bathroom.
"We started the bathroom, though we didn't have time to finish it," said
church member Cheryl Epp. "And we painted parts of the church we helped
buy."
The project simply couldn't meet completion in time to head back but Epp
says finding the right things in Cuba is quite a chore and much of their
trip was spent just tracking down what they needed.
"Just to find items for the bathroom, which had to be basically trashed
before they started, I don't even know how many stores they had to go to.
"Some things we found easily but others were really tough.
"It was different from our first time but it was a good experience."
The good news is the group met an English-speaking mason on the trip and
have contracted him to finish the job to the exact specifications of the
church.
