The U.S. State and Transportation departments are reviewing whether to
allow more airports to offer direct service to Cuba, says Christine
Fornarotto, deputy assistant secretary of transportation for aviation
and international affairs. The agencies are evaluating safety, security
and diplomatic issues, but have no timeline for expanding service
despite requests from U.S. airports. Currently, direct flights to Cuba
are available from New York John F. Kennedy, Los Angeles International
and Miami International airports.
