FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) A local church is working with natives of Cuba
to build one of the first new Christian churches in the country since 1959.

Amy Warren and her son, Asher, are spearheading the project. The two
traveled to Cuba last year when Asher was just in Kindergarten. On that
trip he told his mom he wanted to raise money to build a church.

Now that dream is becoming a reality and they're working to raise $22,000.

"They are very cramped, they have new freedoms, they are worshiping in
their homes now and they are ready," Warren said. "They need a new
church building to worship in."

Four women from their church will soon be traveling to Cuba for a
Christian conference in connection to the church project.
