Gov't funds 250 medical students on Cuba study
Two hundred and fifty Ghanaian students selected from across the country
are set to leave Ghana for Cuba today to study medicine.
The students are beneficiaries of a collaborative effort between the
Governments of Ghana and Cuba spanning over 6 years.
The initiative is also geared at helping improving the doctor-patient
ratio in Ghana.
Ghana has a rich history of collaboration with Cuba on the medical front
as over 150 Cuban doctors are currently working in the country.
Several students were sent to Cuba under the Kwame Nkrumah regime to
undertake similar studies.
Speaking to the students, the Vice President John Dramani called on them
to be worthy ambassadors of Ghana while on their study.
