A Simcoe Ontario teen that is expected to attend Sault College this fall
may not be able to attend depending the outcome of a trail in Cuba.
The Canadian Press is reporting a story of Cody LeCompte, 19, who has
been in Cuba since May. He can't come home.
The teen is being held by Cuban authorities for a traffic accident that
if convicted could mean additional time in a Cuban prison.
LeCompte says the gift of a trip to Cuba was for being accepted in the
Aviation program at Sault College this fall.
LeCompte tells media that it was one last rip with his mother before
heading off to college.
The teen along with his Mother and a cousin were involved in a traffic
accident that sent the young man to a Cuban Hospital.
After recovering, while trying to board a plane home, LeCompte was
stopped at the airport saying he was being held and could not leave the
country.
So far the ordeal has cost Danette LeCompte, the teen's mother about
$12,000. The teens Cuban lawyer says it could be a few more months
before a trial and if convicted, the teen will be spending time in prison.
