Body to look into problems of students studying in Cuba

F.P. Report ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Standing Committee on Education
formed a sub-committee to look into the problems being faced by the
medical students in Cuba where they are not allowed to perform clinical
practice. The three- member sub-committee was formed under the
Convenership of MNA Rana Nadeem Afzal and it was directed to submit a
detailed report on the issue within 15 days. A total of 974 students of
medical sciences were sent to Cuba by Higher Education Commission (HEC)
but they complained that they were not being allowed in Cuba to
undertake clinical practice. The Standing Committee also directed HEC to
probe into the matter and talk to the Cuban government to solve this
issue. The committee directed the Ministry of Education to summon the
former chairman Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr Atta-ur Rehman who
failed to appear before the body despite various calls.
